Common Questions

The rubbing and kneading of muscles and joints of the body with arms or hands to relieve tension and/or pain.

Depending on what your preventative or maintenance needs are, you can be receive massages once per week, to once per month. If you lead a very active lifestyle, or work in a very high stress environment, I would recommend that you be receiving massages at the very least once every other week.  If you suffer from chronic issues like migraines, or tension headaches, I would recommend that you schedule several sessions 4 to 7 days apart for several sessions, and then depending how much you improve, then we can scale it back to once every other week, or even down to once a month.  (Note: The massage frequencies are just recommendations, and not requirements).

  • Its not uncommon to experience soreness or tenderness in certain areas after a massage. It normally lasts for a couple days. Many people do experience an improvement in energy levels, and better quality sleep after their massage.

No, you don’t have to take off all your clothes. Many people do choose to fully disrobe, you will be covered under a sheet and a blanket. You can leave your underwear on if you are more comfortable that way. I have done several massage sessions where the client is fully clothed, I just ask that you wear loose fitted clothing. I have some clients that come in their gym attire, which is perfectly fine too. 

While massage does promote relaxation, it can also help manage and reduce pain, improve circulation, reduce headaches, reduce muscle tension, increase range of motion, and  improve overall wellness.

I offer several options for massage time. I would recommend 30 or 45 minute sessions if you just want a “quick fix.” For example, if you just want your neck and upper shoulders worked on, or if you just want your upper and lower back worked on, 30 to 45 minutes would be enough time. I would recommend 60, or 75 minutes if you want more then just one or two parts worked on (i.e. Neck and upper shoulders, plus upper and lower back). A full body massage can be done in 60 or 75 minutes, but you might not get too much focus on a specific area since we would be doing a full body massage. A 90 or a 120 minute ( yes that’s right, 2 hours!!) massage is where I do very detailed work.  This is what is  recommended for a full body massage with plenty of focus on several areas that you might need.

Check with your insurance to see if it covers therapeutic massage. In many cases it doesn’t. However, if you have an HSA or an FSA through your employer, there is a possibility that you can use your HSA/FSA to cover the massage.
